Founded in 1967, Texel began its operations on May 27 with the production of blankets for beds. In the early 1970s, the company expanded its activities to the manufacture of felts, notably for the footwear industry, and quickly acquired a large market share in this sector. In 1975, Texel became the first Canadian manufacturer of geotextiles and has maintained its position as Canadian leader ever since. Over the years, the company has developed a wide range of products for various markets such as liquid filtration, agrotextiles, automotive components, and more. Texel's business unit has three production sites with more than ten production lines, as well as two distribution centers located in Quebec (Canada). In total, nearly 350 employees work daily to serve our loyal customer base.
With the integration into the international Lydall group in 2016, Texel has continued to develop its primary objective, which is "to be close to its customers around the world", and to be able to offer them the benefit of its technical know-how as well as its great flexibility. More recently, Lydall merged its activities with Unifrax to create "Alkegen". This merger combines the strengths of the companies to become an innovative industry leader and to provide greater value to customers through an expanded, diversified and attractive portfolio of products and services.
